The campaign coordinator for Uganda’s opposition leader Bobi Wine claimed he was beaten and tortured by police Sunday.

Andrew Natumanya made the allegations and showed his injuries a day after Uganda’s longtime leader President Yoweri Museveni was declared the winner of the country’s presidential election, which the opposition has dismissed as a fraud.

His leading challenger Bobi Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, has been under house arrest for several days.

Natamunya said he was abducted, beaten, and electrocuted by forces loyal to the president and now his “whole entire body keeps shaking” when he tries to hold something.

Meanwhile, the Deputy President of Uganda’s opposition National Unity Platform Mathias Mpunga said the party “rejected the announced results of the presidential elections” and demanded Wine’s “immediate and unconditional release” after the party had earlier said that their leader was placed under “house arrest” in the wake of the vote.

Wine said there had been ballot-box stuffing, intimidation, and that his party’s agents had been beaten and chased away during the election on Thursday.

However, Museveni has said it was the cleanest election in the country’s history. News of Africa

A brawl between 40 men using knives, bottles and a sword has been broken up by police in west London.

Police initially reported that two swords had been used in the fight in Southall in the early hours of Sunday, but later corrected this to “at least one sword”.

At 8pm on Sunday, police released a statement saying that they had been called at “around 0200hrs to a large group of males fighting with knives and at least one sword in the area of King Street, Southall”.

Two men in their 20s were arrested and remain in police custody, according to the statement.

Despite the diverse and unusual weapons used, police said: “There are no reported injuries.”

The police have asked anyone with information about those involved to come forward.

The initial tweet about the fight described the two men being, “chased into St Johns Road and identified as having carried swords during the fight. They were arrested for violent disorder and affray”. Yahoo News
