China expects to promote strategic cooperation and deepen its partnerships with Mozambique and Burundi, Wang Yang, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, said on Tuesday.

Wang made the remarks while speaking with Mozambican Assembly President Esperanca Bias and Burundian Senate President Emmanuel Sinzohagera, via video link.

China is willing to join hands with Mozambique to strengthen political trust and strategic communication, aiming to promote deeper partnership through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and international and regional affairs coordination, Wang said during his meeting with Bias.

Wang said the National Committee of the CPPCC desires to enhance friendly exchanges with the Assembly of Mozambique and expand communication and cooperation in the fields of culture, education, health, youth and women, laying a solid foundation of political, social and public opinion development.

Noting the unbreakable friendship, Bias thanked China's consistent support and help to Mozambique, adding that the Assembly hopes further cooperation with the National Committee of the CPPCC.

During his meeting with Sinzohagera, Wang stated that, under the guidance of both leaders, China and Burundi should promote more practical cooperation to achieve political consensus.

China, alongside other African countries, expects to implement the Global Development Initiative and Global Security Initiative and safeguard the common interests of China, Africa and other developing countries.

China also wishes to strengthen exchanges with the Senate of Burundi, Wang said.

Sinzohagera attached great importance to the development of China-Burundi relations and adherence to the one-China principle, adding that the Senate would like to deepen exchanges to achieve wider cooperation. - CGTN
