Police are investigating a man who allegedly shot dead his wife and another man at a pub in the South Sudanese capital, Juba on Wednesday evening.

According to sources, Longar Akok, a National Security officer, was arrested by the National Security personnel shortly after committing the crime and then handed over to police.

Police Spokesman Maj. Gen. Daniel Justin told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday police in Juba have begun probing the killing of a woman and a man at the Bedouin pub, opposite the Hai Malakal Cemetery.

“It was found that the man who committed the crime is the husband of the woman who died in the incident. He suspected that his wife was in a love affair with the man who was seated with her at the pub,” Justin said. “There is another person who sustained minor injuries after the incident.”

“The police have started to investigate the incident. The man who has been killed was a police officer. The case is clear and investigations are underway,” he added.

According to Justin, the case will be taken to court once investigations are complete.

Sources identified Akok’s wife as Rebecca Anyon Kot and the man killed as Akech Manut. - Radio Tamazuj
