East Africa

A brief from Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi said the Kenya-US partnership will be deepened through an expanded bilateral relationship centred on economic prosperity, trade, security, governance, multilateral and regional issues, and health cooperation, among others.

“Kenya is committed to maintaining and strengthening existing cooperation between Kenya and the United States Government and is also keen to explore new mutually beneficial avenues for cooperation,” Mudavadi said in the media dispatch.

Kenya and the US have long enjoyed a strategic partnership built on shared interests in trade, governance, health, peace, and security. Last month, President William Ruto witnessed the signing of the Washington Accord, which underscored commitments by the Presidents of Rwanda and the DRC to cease hostilities and foster lasting peace in eastern DRC.

During the visit, Mudavadi and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio signed the Kenya–US Strategic Health Cooperation Framework, expected to channel Sh208 billion into Kenya’s health sector over the next five years.

“Hot on the heels of this historic health agreement is the extension of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) for Kenya, together with other African Governments, a deal that ended in September 2025,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. By Mary Wambui, The Eastleigh Voice
