The National Police Service (NPS) moved 29 senior police officers in a bid aimed at boosting security in the country.

According to a letter by the NPS, released on Friday, January 28, the 29 sub-county police commanders were drawn from the ranks of inspectors and chief inspectors.

During the transfer period, NPS allocated more police officers to the Kenya Revenue Authority in a bid to boost investigations.

Those affected by the changes were Starehe Central boss Adamson Bungei who was moved to Turkana Central. He was replaced by David Baariu.

Kiminini station will be manned by John Otieno, who was moved from Gilgil and replaced by Francis Tumbo. Stella Jerono was also transferred from Nyatike to Keiyo South. 

Baringo West will be overseen by Christine Kola who was moved from Narok West while Harriet Rimbere was transferred from Kitui to Naivasha.

Moses Owiti was moved to Samburu Central in the reshuffle. This comes barely a fortnight after the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti reshuffled over 70 county and sub-county criminal investigation officers.

A statement issued on Wednesday, January 19, indicated that 13 of the officers who were stationed at the headquarters were redeployed in Nairobi to handle the revenue fraud cases.

The 13 were redirected to report to their work stations on Thursday, January 20 while the rest are expected at their new stations on Friday, January 28. 

Kenya, on Friday, January 28 beefed up security following warnings from several European embassies in the country on possible terror attacks. 

The Dutch, French, German and American Embassies cautioned their citizens to avoid public places and report any alarming incidents. 

Police spokesperson Bruno Shioso, however, stated that they were yet to receive reports regarding the alert.

Shioso, nonetheless, assured Kenyans of their safety adding that more police were deployed to man Nairobi Metropolitan and the entire country.
