Organised by the ANC and its alliance partners, the march honoured victims of the Sharpeville massacre while marking 30 years of the Constitution.

Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi says the People's March, led by the African National Congress (ANC), is an expression of South Africa’s constitutional democracy.

Receiving a statement from marchers in Johannesburg on Saturday, reaffirmed government's commitment to upholding the Constitution and its democratic principles.

Organised by the ANC and its alliance partners, the march honoured victims of the Sharpeville massacre while marking 30 years of the Constitution.

Kubayi says the gathering reflects the people’s power in shaping government, reiterating the ANC's commitment to the country’s democracy and sovereignty.

"That's what the Constitution says; hence, this march is significant and is important. We remain committed to protecting our principles of democracy, while also ensuring that this government does not become a puppet government that is instructed by others, but a government that is the government of the people, listening to its people,” Kubayi added.  EWN
