KRA has recorded steady growth in revenue collection over the last six financial years. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has recorded steady growth in revenue collection over the last six financial years, with collections hitting a record Sh2.57 trillion in the 2024/25 financial year.
According to KRA data, revenue mobilisation grew by 6.8 per cent compared to the previous financial year, reflecting improved tax compliance and economic activity.
Collections crossed the Sh2 trillion mark in 2021/22 after reaching Sh2.031 trillion.
Revenue continued to grow to Sh2.166 trillion in 2022/23 and Sh2.407 trillion in 2023/24 before climbing to the current Sh2.571 trillion.
The growth comes as KRA intensifies efforts to widen the tax base, digitise tax systems, and improve compliance across different sectors of the economy.
The agency remains central to government financing, helping fund public services, infrastructure projects, and development programmes amid rising expenditure demands. The Star
