A Kenyan family from Kitale is living in distress after their kin, Edna Mmbali Ombakho, went missing in the United Kingdom under circumstances that remain unclear.

Edna, a 30-year-old Master's student in the UK, was last seen on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in Wraysbury, Berkshire, and has not been heard from since, raising growing fears about her safety.

Human rights organisation HAKI Africa confirmed that it received a distress call from Edna's family, who are desperately seeking assistance to locate her more than a week after her disappearance.

According to the family, Edna is approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, soft-spoken, and well-known for keeping in regular contact, making her sudden silence highly unusual.

Relatives say Edna travelled to the United Kingdom to further her studies and had been residing in Wraysbury at the time she was last seen.

The family has since reported the matter to authorities in the UK, and police investigations are currently ongoing to establish her whereabouts.

HAKI Africa has appealed to members of the public who may have seen Edna or have any information that could assist in tracing her to come forward without delay.

In its appeal, the organisation said every lead, no matter how minor it may seem, could be critical in helping reunite Edna with her family.

"HAKI Africa has received a call from the family of Edna Mmbali Ombakho, who has been reported missing. We appeal to anyone who may have seen Edna or has any information that could assist in locating her to come forward immediately," read the statement by the organisation on Saturday, February 7.

For those in Kenya, the family has provided contact details to receive any information related to the case. Dr George Ombakho can be reached at +254 722 779 307, while Jesse Ombakho is available on +254 741 762 057.

"We are deeply concerned for her safety and are asking anyone who may have seen or heard from her to please come forward," an emotional appeal from the family read.

Members of the public in the United Kingdom have been urged to contact the police immediately on 999 and quote the Investigation Number: 43260053275 if they have any relevant information.

As the days pass with no word from Edna, her family continues to hold on to hope, urging the public to share the appeal widely in the hope that it will lead to her safe return.

While Edna’s family is seeking information about their kin, cases of Kenyans missing in the UK have increased recently. In January 2026, a Kenyan man, Kepha Otieno, was found lifeless in Reading, before he was identified as homeless.

In the same month, a Kenyan-born bank executive, Marianne Kilonzi, was found deceased in her London flat, and police have intensified investigations into the matter. by Joseph Ogungo, Kenyans.co.ke
