Kenya's Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua rushed to hospital

Lead Council Lawyer Paul Muite has informed the Senate that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was taken ill and rushed to hospital. This happened just minutes after he was set to take the stand in senate and defend himself against allegations made during his impeachment in parliament.

The Court declined to stop impeachment proceedings happening at the Senate. The Senate kicked off their impeachment process yesterday and they are supposed to vote late today. Gachagua was expected to take the stand today and also defend himself against 11 charges. The Senate proceedings have been suspended until 5 pm.
