Kenyan football legend Victor Wanyama delivered an inspiring and hands-on masterclass to the All-Stars team from Safaricom Chapa Dimba Season 4 at the Ligi Ndogo Grounds in Nairobi, as momentum builds toward the highly anticipated launch of Season 5.

The session brought together some of the country’s most promising young footballers, who benefited from both on-pitch and off-pitch mentorship from the former international captain. The engagement forms part of the lead-up to the Season 5 kickoff, scheduled for May 9 in Kisumu County.

Wanyama, who recently announced his retirement from professional football, shared invaluable insights drawn from his illustrious career, urging the players to embrace discipline, consistency, and a relentless work ethic.

“If opportunities like Safaricom Chapa Dimba were available when I was starting out, I would have gone even further in my career. So, I urge the players to grab this opportunity with both hands and work hard—you never know who is watching,” he said.

Beyond technical skills, Wanyama emphasized the importance of maintaining peak physical condition and cultivating a strong mental mindset, noting that these are critical ingredients for long-term success in professional sports.

The session also took a broader life-skills approach, with Wanyama encouraging the young athletes to adopt sound financial habits early. He highlighted the importance of saving and investing, regardless of income level, as a key pillar of stability beyond the pitch.

Currently pursuing his UEFA coaching licenses, Wanyama took the players through an interactive on-field segment, demonstrating drills and techniques while offering real-time feedback—further underscoring his commitment to nurturing the next generation of Kenyan football talent.

The masterclass not only sharpened the players’ skills but also reinforced the growing impact of Safaricom Chapa Dimba as a platform for identifying and developing grassroots football talent across the country. Soko Directory
