Speaking in Mwea, Munene said ODM has no moral authority to demand a 50-50 share of government or the DP seat after joining the administration through the broad-based arrangement.

Mt Kenya MPs allied to the government have hit out at National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed for demanding the Deputy President's seat, rallying behind DP Kithure Kindiki against claims that he is under siege.

Led by Igamba Ng'ombe MP Patrick Munene, Mwea MP Mary Maingi and Kirinyaga Central MP Gachoki Gitari, the legislators argued that those calling for Kindiki's removal, among them Junet and Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, played no part in electing the current Kenya Kwanza administration.

Speaking in Mwea, Munene said ODM has no moral authority to demand a 50-50 share of government or the DP seat after joining the administration through the broad-based arrangement.

"Junet Mohamed did not elect this government. He should not demand the DP seat. Let him focus on ODM," Munene said.

He vowed that the leaders would defend Kindiki from within government and back his presidential ambitions.

"We the people supporting Kindiki have no fear. We will fight for him even in his 2032 presidential bid. Kindiki will be on the presidential ballot in 2032," he said.

The MPs also dismissed DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua's claim that he will direct the Mt Kenya region on who to elect.

"Who is he? He should not direct his bitterness at us after he was impeached.," Munene added

In Kirinyaga Central, Gitari said Kindiki has not raised any complaints about his position in government, and took issue with Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku over remarks that Mt Kenya should be split into two.

"If we start splitting Mt Kenya, we will be doing the same way ODM is split into four. If he wants to join politics, he should resign as Cabinet Secretary," Gitari said.

Maingi maintained that Kindiki remains strong and is still the King of the Mountain, insisting that Kirinyaga has always been part of Mt Kenya East.

"Even before, Kirinyaga was on the eastern side, that is Mt Kenya East. Even before, we were going for Huduma services in Embu, only that I built a Huduma Centre in Mwea," she said. Citizen Digital
